In 1859, a massive evangelical revival began, after small Prayer Meetings were held in a schoolhouse in the village of Kells, three miles from Ballee Mission Hall. Thousands of people were converted to Christ as the Revival spread throughout Ulster. Many of Ballymena's Churches were built as the result of the Revival. Recently Ballymena historian Jack Adams found the words of this old Gospel Hymn scribbled out in an old Bible belonging to Jeremiah Meneely, who was co-founder of the famous Revival Prayer Meetings.

The old Hymn "Grand Time Comin"  was typed out and sung at an Ulster Revival Video presentation in Ballee Mission Hall a few years ago, a copy was forwarded to The Ulster-Scots Folk Orchestra. Thanks to them for including the Hymn , as the last track on one of their cd's.  Tune:-  "There'll be no dark valley when Jesus comes".

May the words bring comfort to God's children and challenge and conviction to those who are described in the last verse, the "dear unsaved yins ".

There's a gran time cummin', O brither dear,
There's a gran time cummin', be o’ guid cheer,
There's a gran time cummin', tis drawin’ near,
Whun Jesus 'll tak’ us haem.

There'll be nae mair sickness an’ nae mair pains,
There'll be nae mair sorrows whaur Jesus reigns,
There'll be nae mair pairtin's wi’ freen's again,
Whun Jesus 'll tak’ us haem.

There'll be nae mair backslidin' or cross tae bear,
There'll be nae mair divisions or discord there,
There'll be nae mair grumlin' an' nae mair care,
Whun Jesus 'll tak’ us haem.

There'll be nae nicht thonner, nae deys nor years,
There'll be nae mair dootin’s an’ nae mair fears,
There'll be nae mair sighin' an’ nae mair tears,
Whun Jesus 'll tak’ us haem.

There'll be nae mair deathbeds or foe tae brave,
There'll be nae mair coffins an’ nae caul’ grave,
There'll be nae dark valley nor Jordan's wave,
Whun Jesus'll tak’ us haem.

There'll be yin great company in white array,
And a splendid weddin' an’ supper tae,
Wae the Bride an' Bridegroom on thon great dey,
Whun Jesus'll tak’ us haem.

There'll be sweet reunions ow’r thonner I'm shair,
There'll be joyful greetin's wi’ loved yins there,
There'll be happy meetin's tae pairt nae mair,
Whun Jesus'll tak’ us haem.

Noo you dear unsaved yins the warnin' min,
For the Bible tells us an’ there you'll fin,
That the unconverted are left behin,
Whun Jesus'll tak’ us haem.
